Pushing Myself

After reading about Tina’s awesome 15k this weekend, I felt mega motivated to go for a long run on Sunday.  Since moving to Trinidad, Glen and I haven’t gone for a run longer than 4.5 miles.  I really have to give my husband a big thank you too – he always goes with the flow whenever I announce what our workout will be the next day!  Such a good sport! 


Yesterday, we woke up a bit late (630am) and headed out to The Savannah. 
 The Savannah is a 2.6 mile circle around a park in the city.
I had decided, we were going to to it twice plus some!
 

The run started out great – both of us had some sore hamstrings from Friday’s workout – but after a little while we were at a great pace and doing well!  The sunrises here at 6am and by 730 – it’s HOT, very hot.  Yesterday, was no different – it was hot.  
As we finished lap 1 – we both felt really good!

After about 3/4 of the way around lap 2 – I felt sick.  
I think it was do to the intense heat.
I controlled my breathing a bit and pressed on.

When we finished, I saw our time – 43 minutes!  
5.6 miles in 43 minutes
like our creative 5.6 photo? we are dorks!
WOW!
By FAR, this was the best run of my life!
  
Glen had to pee about half way around lap 2 & we were basically sprinting near the end – I’m pretty sure that’s why our time was so good!  LOL 
inspired by Tina, I had my 1st ice bath after our run – i think it helped

I was thrilled after our run, not just because I ran faster than I ever have before, but because I pushed myself – hard.  I’m not training for a race. 
I’m training for a healthy life and dragging my husband along for the ride!
